The reciprocating wire cutting equipment operates using a diamond-coated wire that moves in a back-and-forth (reciprocating) motion to cut through the material. Here’s a simplified breakdown of its mechanism:
Workpiece Placement: The material to be cut is securely fixed on the worktable, which can move forward and backward to adjust the cutting position.
Wire Movement: The diamond-coated wire, which is stretched between two spools, moves in a reciprocating motion (back and forth). This motion allows the wire to engage with the material and cut through it.
Cutting Process: The wire, driven by a motor, moves at a controlled speed. As it moves across the material, the diamond abrasives on the wire gradually wear down the material, making precise cuts. The wire is guided by precision rollers to maintain the cutting path.
Tension and Speed Control: The tension of the wire and the speed of the reciprocating motion are controlled to match the material’s hardness, ensuring smooth cuts without damaging the workpiece.
Cooling System: A cooling liquid is often circulated around the cutting area to remove heat and debris generated during cutting, which helps maintain cutting efficiency and prolong the wire’s lifespan.

Functions of SVO 20 Internal Contour Cutting Machine:

The Difference of
Open-loop type Diamond Wire Saw And Endless Diamond Wire Saw
The primary differences between the conventional reeled diamond wire saw used in the SVO 20 machine and an endless (or loop) diamond wire saw can be explained through several key aspects:
1. Wire Configuration:
- Diamond Wire Saw (SVO20):
- This machine typically uses a long, straight diamond wire that is threaded through the machine and workpiece. The wire is moved back and forth or continuously in one direction for cutting. The wire is wound on a spool, fed through the cutting area, and then collected on another spool after cutting. and controlled by the feed and tension mechanisms.
- Endless Diamond Wire Saw:
- The endless diamond wire is a closed loop, meaning it forms a continuous loop (usually around 10 meters in length) and rotates in one direction at high speed. There is no need to reverse the direction of the wire, which allows for faster linear speeds (up to 80 m/s), leading to higher efficiency and smoother cutting surfaces without wire marks.
2. Wire Length:
- Diamond Wire Saw (SVO20):
- This machine uses a longer wire (can hold up to 200 meters of wire), suitable for specific applications and varied workpieces. The wire is gradually consumed during cutting.
- Endless Diamond Wire Saw:
- The wire is a shorter, continuous loop (typically around 10 meters), providing consistent tension and cutting speed over the entire process. This loop system enhances precision and reduces wear compared to longer wires.
3. Cutting Speed , Efficiency and Surface Qualit:
- Diamond Wire Saw (SVO 20):
- Wire speed is generally slower, around 0–11 m/s depending on the material, with adjustable speeds to control the cutting process.
